About

Montana native Debbie Sorensen, grew up on a small family ranch where welcome was a way of life. She graduated eighth grade from a one-room country school and from high school in the small community of Belt. Debbie earned a B.S. in  Home Economics Education and a minor in Consumer Education from Montana State University in Bozeman.

A 4-H exchange trip took Debbie to the Philippines as a grassroots ambassador. She then went on to teach Jr. High Home Economics and serve as the State Director of Education for the Montana Farmers Union.

Debbie married Russ Sorensen in Alaska where twin sons were born to them. Returning to Montana, life was busy for her, as a wife, mother, homemaker and community member.  The family welcomed six exchange students to live with them over a 12-year time period. During those years Debbie found many ways to stay engaged in welcoming activities that included speaking and writing.

After her sons graduated with engineering degrees from Montana Tech, Debbie spend time in other occupations. Those included customer service in an insurance office and for a major airline; working for WIC and Head Start, teaching piano lessons, teaching Home Economics again and being self-employed.

Now living in Butte, Montana, Debbie is widowed. She enjoys her married sons and nine grandchildren. A life time of experience and welcome is lending itself well to this most recent endeavor of building a business of speaking and writing.

Debbie now welcomes the opportunity to inspire others, as she speaks and writes. Activities include:
